St. Louis, Oct. 8, 2013 - Mayor Francis G. Slay and the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC) presented Sub Zero Vodka Bar (308 N. Euclid Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108) with a Neighborhood Business of the Year Award. The award recognizes businesses that enhance the quality of life in each of St. Louis’ 28 wards.

Since opening in 2004, Sub Zero Vodka Bar owners Derek and Lucas Gamlin have been committed to enhancing the Central West End neighborhood. “We are focused on more than bringing business and jobs to the Central West End. We want to be dedicated community partners, and a part of the neighborhood,” says owner Derek Gamlin.

One of the most recent community partnerships is the launch of the Sub Zero Vodka Bar World’s Fair Burger campaign. The Forest Park Forever organization will receive $1 from the sale of each burger, and received the proceeds from the restaurant’s ninth anniversary party in September.

The Neighborhood Business of the Year Award was presented to owners Derek and Lucas Gamlin on Oct. 4, 2013 at the Mayor’s Business Celebration Luncheon at the Renaissance Grand Hotel.

Only Missouri Establishment To Receive Honor From OpenTable

After the evaluation of more than five million user reviews, OpenTable diners named Sub Zero Vodka Bar, at 308 N. Euclid Ave. in St. Louis’s Central West End, one of the Top 100 Dining Hot Spots in the U.S.

“It is an incredible honor to learn that guests from around the country selected Sub Zero as one of their favorite hot spots,” says Sub Zero Owner Lucas Gamlin. Sub Zero was the only restaurant in Missouri, and one of the few in the Midwest, to be named to the list.

More than 15,000 restaurants across the nation were eligible for the Top 100. Other restaurants that received the designation this year include TAO in Las Vegas and STK in Miami.

According to OpenTable, this year’s winning restaurants have all the ingredients diners need to spice up any evening, whether it’s a midweek meal or a destination celebration. Beyond cool crowds, daring drink lists, and inventive menus, these hot spots are cultivating a sexy see-and-be-seen ambiance that will make for a night to remember.

St. Louis natives Derek and Lucas Gamlin opened Sub Zero Vodka Bar in 2004. Consistently ranked as one of the top spots in St. Louis, Sub Zero provides guests with the largest selection of vodkas in the country, accompanied by modern American burgers and fresh sushi. Head Chef Ian Craig handcrafts unique burgers such as the Hawaiian Kobe and Colorado Lamburger, while veteran sushi Chef Vu Hoang combines fresh fish that is flown in daily with impeccably seasoned rice to create delectable sushi that is served until last call every night.

All restaurants with a minimum number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of qualifying reviews for which ”hot spot” was selected as a special feature.
